On Jan. 16th, the Irvington Key Club hosted its 2nd Annual Beneficial Concert, Keypalooza, a heartfelt fundraiser supporting the Pediatric Trauma Program (PTP). The event brought together a variety of student groups and community performers to share their talents and contribute to a meaningful cause.

The evening began at 7 p.m. with welcoming remarks from MCs Kalyn Dang and Andre Nguyen, who introduced the mission behind the charity. The audience was soon energized by ICED’s dynamic hip-hop dance, followed by the elegant traditional fan dance performed by the VSA club. To add some fun, a “Performative Contest” invited attendees to showcase their outfits on stage, and the Juggling club delighted the crowd with a lively circus act.

Among the diverse lineup, the JFK Korean Club was invited to perform after months of careful preparation. Azul Calderon (12), reflected on the long rehearsals and the shared excitement on the day of the show, “For rehearsals I’d say the most memorable moment was staying until it was dark outside, regardless of how tired and hungry we all were, we still kept our energy. On the day of the show, I think the most memorable part was seeing everyone else really excited and nervous to perform, it’s nice to just take in everyone else’s happiness too.”

Calderon also shared how she managed her nerves before stepping onto the Irvington stage for the first time, “I try not to let nerves get to me, overtime I’ve been able to manage them by telling myself that I know the choreography and where I need to be. It’s all about trusting yourself.”

Ria Dube (9) added her perspective on performing, “Before I go onstage, I remind myself of everything that has led to the moment. I remember all of the hard work me and my peers have put into practicing and how much fun we had. “Performing shouldn't be about pressure, it should be something you enjoy” is what I think to myself before going onstage. Before performing, I also make sure I am well rested and have eaten properly. Being physically and mentally prepared is key to having a good experience performing.”

Their words capture the dedication and joy behind the JFK Korean Club’s performance, marking a meaningful start to their 2026 activities.

The concert continued with spirited performances by Milpitas MISFITS & KDT to Cortis’ “FaSHioN,” followed by Irvington Resonance’s musical set. The evening also featured officer introductions and a special performance by Irvington Key officers, concluding with a lively karaoke session that brought everyone together.

Keypalooza was more than just a showcase of talent—it was a celebration of community, creativity, and compassion. Students from different schools united not only to entertain but also to support a cause close to their hearts, making the night truly special.
