The movie for the first part of Demon Slayer’s finale aired on Sep. 12, 2025 and the rest would be out in 2027 and 2029. Demon Slayer is an anime series about a character’s journey to avenge his family and cure his demon-turned sister written by Koyoharu Gotouge.
The Demon Slayer manga was published on Feb. 15, 2016, and the anime streamed three years after its release. The background of the story is about the main character Tanjiro avenging his family, who are killed by demons, and finding a cure for his sister that turned into a demon. He fights along the Hashira or the strongest demon hunters against the first demon Muzan and the demons under him. The movie was mostly about fight scenes of the Hahshira against strong demons in Muzan’s fortress. The Hashira's and Tanjiro’s group fight deadly duels leading to the fall of demons.
After the release, the movie grossed $423,853,427 worldwide according to Box Office. An influencer who watched the movie on the day it streamed, Marco Portugal, commented his thoughts on the movie. “I would say that the movie is quite the experience. For avid fans or to people who are new to Demon Slayers, it is overall a good pick to see. It is one of the best anime movies to this day and the studio is still working to produce more work like it,” Portugal elaborated. Portugal enjoyed the different scenes of the movie including the fight scenes and emotional scenes. The movie paves the way for deaths of characters, as it is the first of the finale trilogy, even killing the insect Hashira Shinobu. He also commented that the soundtrack that was put into use for the movie makes him feel like he is participating in the movie, bringing out the emotions of the movie to viewers.
Matt Lim (10), a music student, shared a similar point of view “The music in the movie perfectly matched the scenes emotionally and visually. The piano composition during the sentimental scenes in the movie are perfect and just makes the movie even better.”
