On Apr. 2nd, An Egg Hunt and Food Sales were hosted by the different clubs at John F. Kennedy from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM, led by JFK Peer Resources. The Egg Hunt actualizes at the quad, where clubs sell different products and distributed eggs over the area, then giving treats when an egg was found. Participants socialize with their friends and gets to relieve their stress at a fun function, accomplishing the purpose set out by Peers club when starting the event.

The event started with a simple idea that evolved into a collaboration of different entities.

“We first thought of a mental health easter egg hunt, but then we decided to incorporate other clubs, similar to Fall Fest. We started inviting other clubs and hoped the egg hunt will become a tradition long after we graduated,” said James Dizon (12), Peers Resources club’s president.

Peers club initializes the event early by sending a detailed message of their proposal within the all clubs group chat, two months before their planned date. When all of the clubs had registered for a booth, Peers handle the communication between all of the club to make sure everyone is up to date, and they held a logistics meeting about a week before the day of the event in Erin Castillo’s room, Peers’ advisor. All of participating clubs posted a reel promoting their product and the event on Instagram, a similar strategy to Multicultural Food Sales and Fall Fest promotion.

Car club was interested in selling at the event, and they sold vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup and sprinkles.

“I thought it was going to be a really hot day, but it turned out to be really cool. I think people like ice cream anyways as it’s a comfort food,” stated Raiden Refuerzo (11). “We had a lot of people come out. It was kind of fun, and I’d definitely do it again next year.”

The clubs participating were: Peer Resources, VSA, Car, NHS, PPC, Poly, TND, Desi, and HOSA. The booths were selling products like spam musubi, lassi, slime, and mango lassi. Dizon remarked that for the first ever egg hunt, the event did quite well statistically regarding participant turnout and ticket sale.

Peers Resources held a debrief meeting after the event to go over what was good and what could go better. They had an idea to eventually incorporate in performances.

Sanaya Goel (9), a participant, expressed, “I would like to see it next year, as it was a fun experience for students to look for eggs and earn treats from them. It was also a great opportunity for clubs to earn money for their growth.”
