The end of fall sports are coming to a close which means that the winter season for sports at Kennedy is finally starting up. The John F. Kennedy Basketball team is ready to start the new season and have since been preparing. Every Monday and Wednesday, they have been in the weight room doing workouts and lifting weights, and Tuesdays and Thursdays have been conditioning and open gym. These conditioning workouts have took place before the open gyms, and involved high intensity activities such as sprints. The Titans have gotten well in shape, as they will play a more scrappy team style due to their now absence of height. Kennedy students who are interested in joining are free to join these sessions.

Last year, the Titans fell short of the playoffs by just one win. The late season collapse, only winning 1 of their last 5 games drastically slid the Titans down the rankings and out of the playoffs. With the lost of 7 seniors last year, Varsity coach Dave Domelle has to modify his team playing style and maybe look for a new one. Each training, he preaches work ethic, and that they aren’t just working to get better, they are “working to beat the other teams in league”. Coach Domelle has said that he feels this new group is more united together, and also more hungry to win as he has high expectations for this season.

Cash McDowell(12) was one of the key players of last year's team, and he will now have to emerge into a even bigger role. Over the past summer, Cash has been relentlessly working on his game, as he is expected to produce a impactful senior season as he also is motivated to play basketball after high school. “This season, I really want to help lead my team and make some noise, as we got a lot of people doubting us,” McDowell expressed. As the season comes close, the Kennedy Titans have silently been working on their game, but hope to make noise this upcoming season.
